Retirement Calculator
The variables are:
  • Present Balance = Current investments (RRSPs, GICs, mutual funds, etc.).
  • Years to Retirement = The number of years left until you retire.
  • Annual payment = The amount you put into your investments at the beginning of each year.
  • % Interest Rate = The interest you expect to earn on average over the years until you retire.
  • Total at Retirement = The total amount you will have in your account when you retire.
The financial calculator has been programmed with the following example:  A client has $50,000 in a fund. He plans to retire in 30 years and would like to deposit $3,500 per year into his/her account at 8% interest. If you click the "Calculate" button, you will see that the client will have $931,343.38 in his/her account by retirement.

Instructions: Type in your own figures, leaving out the commas. Click "Calculate" to see how much money you will have when you retire. Change the interest rate to see the difference it makes in the final amount.
